The ARTUS product is developed according to VdS 3189 guidelines and also complies with VdS 3189 when installed at your site.
The objective of this directive is:
‘Due to on-site and operational special characteristics, in addition to a fire detection system according to VdS 2095 or DIN VDE 0833-2, you may want to use IR camera units, especially for the temperature control of surfaces. Therefore, early stage temperature anomalies, such as temperature gradient in the IR camera unit’s surveillance area, can be responded to.
The following functions are performed by an IR camera unit:
- Early detection and localisation of locations with elevated temperatures, such as embers, hot surfaces,
- monitoring of surfaces by measuring current temperatures, the temperature curve or temporal changes in temperature,
- support of fire-fighting management and optional mobile and/or stationary fire fighting solutions.
When IR camera units are used in industrial buildings or outdoors, special requirements are placed on the monitoring technology due to the ambient and environmental conditions.
The IR camera units described in these guidelines are not fire alarm systems according to VdS 2095 or DIN VDE 0833-2. A triggering of VdS-approved fire extinguishing systems is not allowed.’
