The TRISTAN spectrometer series is the result of m-u-t‘s long-standing expertise in optoelectronics and spectroscopy. The TRISTAN series consists of a wide range of designs, from desktop scientific spectrometers to modular customized solutions. All of them are based on the same core optical engines and software algorithms.
Compact optical engine for UV-VIS measurement
Our most popular optical engine is optimized for maximum performance in the spectral range from 200 nm to 1100 nm, a range which can be analyzed using siliconbased CCD-line detectors. It uses an asymmetrical Czerny-Turner setup, which produces the least stray light and maximum optical resolution. This optical engine can be equipped with different detectors.
CCD sensor with 3648 pixels
The off-the-shelf solutions of TRISTAN spectrometers have been designed around the most common requirements for spectral range, optical resolution and sensitivity. For many applications, TRISTAN® spectrometers with this detector offer the best price – performance relation. This sensor is used in our compact spectrometer, the TRISTAN USB.
Back-thinned CCD sensor with 14x2048 pixels
Four configurations of the TRISTAN engine are based on the latest sensor technology. For high-end applications, they offer higher sensitivity in the UV and NIR ranges without the need of additional filters and coatings. These CCD configurations set a new standard for off-the-shelf spectrometers with regard to sensitivity, dynamics and noise.
NIR engine for TE-cooled sensors
For our TRISTAN NIR versions, we use InGaAs detectors, covering different spectral ranges from 900 nm to 2200 nm. To meet the special requirements for NIR-measurement, we have a different optical engine for this spectral range. The engine is an asymmetrical Czerny-Turner setup, designed for using TE cooled line detectors. It can be equipped with an InGaAs detector with 512 pixels and TE cooling for high-resolution applications. It offers 5 nm resolution from 0.9 µm to 1.7 µm. The detector is cooled by a built-in thermoelectrical cooler in order to reduce background noise caused by thermal effects. It also can be equipped with an exInGaAs detector for deep-NIR measurements. The latest sensor technology now offers detectors covering a wide range from 1 µm up to 2.2 µm wavelength. These detectors are available with up to 256 pixels. The resolution of 15 nm marks the frontier of what is possible with this new technology.
Built-in Intelligence
TRISTAN spectrometers are designed for operation independent of a connected PC; these spectrometers come with an onboard data processing unit. Based on a 32-bit RISC processor, TRISTAN spectrometers can automatically carry out measurements, process results, and export the results ready-to-use over various interfaces. The ultra-compact TRISTAN USB has no autointernal data treatment but is delivered with a MyInstrument driver package, performing all the required operations on the connected PC before delivering data to any laboratory software. As a result, all TRISTAN spectrometers can be easily integrated into the customer’s own software environment.
