The APD is mounted in a very compact EMI shielded housing which also contains the high voltage power supply and an ultra low noise amplifier. The gain of the APD is adjustable externally over a wide range by means of a control voltage. This feature allows to optimize the application dependant signal-to-noise performance. A temperature compensation circuit guarantees an excellent performance in the entire operation temperature range. High performance s/n ratio and a broad bandwidth dedicate these modules for numerous optical applications.

APD modules with cylindric housings can optionally be equipped with a pre-mounted adapter for direct fiber cable connection. Almost all commercially available avalanche photodiodes can be integrated in APD modules.
