The Specal7 uses gas discharge lamps with typical spectra that will not change under operation conditions or over life-time. Therefore this light source is ideally suited for wavelength calibration and applications where discrete lines are required.

The Specal7 has been designed for simultaneous operation of two gas discharge lamps. The lamps can be operated simultaneously or individually. To increase the lifetime and to avoid the long warm-up periods after ignition the discharge lamps can remain powered during a change and while they are not in use.

Lamps with argon, krypton, neon, zinc, mercury, cadmium and xenon are available. Each of them comes with its own power supply. 28 different spectra can be created in the range of 184.59nm (mercury) up to 837.8nm (neon).
