Archiving system

The SAT5000 has been designed to meet the requirements of hematology departments in midsize to large laboratories. The main benefits are the time and cost savings compared to manual archiving and retrieval of previously stored tubes.

The analyzed samples are collected and put into racks that hold up to 10 tubes. 35 of these racks can be put into the entrance area of the device at once. The SAT5000 takes the tubes out of the racks and reads the barcode. All customary types of barcodes are supported. In case it is not readable, the tube is placed in an error box. All other tubes are allocated to a specific position within the archiving system. The robot arm places the tubes in one of 39 drawers within the special cabinet. Each drawer can hold up to 128 tubes.

The system is able to process 600 tubes per hour and the cabinet capacity is 4992 tubes. When the cabinet has been filled, it can easily be undocked and moved to the cold storage. An empty cabinet is docked with the system for more storage capacity. If a sample is needed for an additional test, no more information than the sample ID is necessary. When it is still in the docked cabinet, the SAT5000 automatically places the tube in the collection box. If the tube is in a cabinet that is already in refrigeration, the system returns the exact position of the tube within the cabinet to allow fast and easy retrieval of the tube.
