Fire Monitoring in Industrial Facilities

In industrial facilities, high temperatures often occur during normal operation as well. Consequently, it may not be possible to use conventional temperature measuring methods for the purpose of early fire detection, since the objects being monitored become hotter than the predefined general thresholds. With LWIR, the visualization of the surface temperatures allows precise differentiation between high temperatures at one machine and a smoldering fire in the waste container located directly next to it. ARTUS PRO, with its high-performance, efficient alarm software can be used for such applications. The sophisticated analytics tool enables individual monitoring of the temperatures in each zone. This capability makes it possible to trigger a correct alarm if, e.g. a component reaches a critical temperature range of 120°C, while at the same time, the adjacent machine continues to operate with a surface temperature of 250°C, within its normal temperature range.

The ARTUS PRO system, which features an integrated PC for controlling the system and for conducting complex analyses of the LWIR video data, is equipped with a PTH that allows it to monitor the entire hall area with a sufficient resolution. The software is configured to the respective temperature profile for each zone being monitored. The system is controlled via an external monitor/keyboard/mouse combination, the monitoring video image is made available throughout the facility via Ethernet.
