The SAT5000 has been designed to meet the requirements of hematology departments in midsize to large laboratories. The main benefits are the time and cost savings compared to manual archiving and retrieval of previously stored tubes.
The analyzed samples are collected and put into racks that hold up to 10 tubes. 35 of these racks can be put into the entrance area of the device at once. The SAT5000 takes the tubes out of the racks, reads the barcodes and allocates them to a specific position within the archiving system. The robot arm places the tubes in one of 39 drawers within the special cabinet. Each drawer can hold up to 128 tubes.
The system is able to process 600 tubes per hour and the cabinet capacity is 4992 tubes. When the cabinet has been filled, it can easily be undocked and moved to the cold storage. An empty cabinet is docked with the system for more storage capacity.
If a sample is needed for an additional test, no more information than the sample ID is necessary. When it is in the still docked cabinet, the SAT5000 automatically places the tube in the collection box. If the tube is in a cabinet that is already in refrigeration, the system returns the exact position of the tube within the cabinet to allow fast and easy retrieval of the tube. Alternatively, the archived cabinet can be docked on the SAT5000 to get the fully automatically by the system.
High Speed Measurement on Liquids in Micro Titer Plates
Speed is one of the greatest challenges in biotechnology and research. Even simple questions require lots of measurements for an answer.
JUVIS® is a spectrophotometer developed for measuring absorbance of liquids in micro titer plates. It can be adapted to 96 or 384 well micro titer plates. The main target was a special design of optics, mechanics and software that meet the requirements for high throughput applications accomplished by short reading times.
In order to increase the measurement speed significantly, the samples remain in their micro titer plates during the measurement. A fiber optical light distribution system and one detector for every sample in one row allow the measurement of a complete row of samples simultaneously.
A one-dimensional shifting system is the only mechanical part inside. Twelve detectors work in parallel to read out one row of wells at once. That ensures rapid processing and maintenance-free operation. In a high-speed version, the JUVIS® can also be equipped with 96 detectors. This allows 96 samples to be tested in one shot without moving the micro titer plate in between.
JUVIS® is a fully integrated system with mechanical micro titer plate handling, measuring equipment, Window OS and application software. All these components are combined in a durable housing for daily laboratory use.
JUVIS® is the perfect solution for a variety of applications such as research, environmental industry, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, quality assurance, biochemistry, micro biology and traditional diagnostics applications (ELISA, toxicological studies etc.).
