PURE

PURE is a new type of refractometer that is intended for remote sensing of fluids. The dip-probe is connected to the USB controller by means of an exclusive optical fiber link.

The sampling head contains no moving parts and no electrical devices only optical components. Therefore PURE is the ideal device for applications where the conditions might prevent the use of standard technologies.

Some examples of such applications are:

• Explosive environment
• Electromagnetic pollution
• Strong magnetic fields
• Limited space

PURE is based on a novel measuring principle which patent is pending:

The sampling head consists of various optical components. This first prototype has two SMA connectors, for easier testing purposes, to couple the illuminating and sensing fibers.

One side of the prism represents the sensing surface. Upcoming PURE sampling heads will undergo a further step in minimizing the size and are expected to be much smaller than the current layout.
 
The patented (pending) principle uses different wavelengths and their polarization behavior subsequent interfacing the medium to be measured. The returned beam is folded by means of a small front surface mirror. Two collimators are used to achieve a defined measuring area on the prism and to provide an effective light collection.
